THE ROOT OF THE STORY
We are a socially conscious plant shop offering a wide variety of house plants, tropicals, succulents, and many more. The Social Root aims to not only propagate plants, but to also propagate the practice of shopping small and connecting with a network of talented artists, crafters, and cultivators to build awareness in the community about the importance of self-expression, self-acceptance, and love for all.
A large portion of our plant inventory was born out of clipping donations from friends and family that were cultivated to create new life from existing life. In fact, our entire business was built through the support and amazing talents of those very same people and many more. Through this journey, we’re learning to lean into our need for others and all the incredible things that can happen when we open ourselves up, trust in our abilities, and chase after a dream.
We proudly offer home decor goods that are created by hand-picked designers, artists, woodworkers, and hopeful entrepreneurs. In addition, we partner long-term with a very select group of designers who create decor and unique plant accessories exclusively for us. This means that no matter what you purchase from The Social Root, it will be extremely unique. We love our plants and our people and have so much gratitude for everyone who has played a part in getting our adventure off to an amazing start.

Part of The Social Root's mission is to connect with fellow small business owners and artisans to bring some of the best of Charlotte to other local markets. We have an incredible community of talented people who design, build, mold, shape, and create all types of products just waiting to be discovered. In an effort to help promote and build up our small business friends, we team up with a hand-picked assortment of local artists who create plant accessories and home decor that catches our eye.
